Being the Innkeeper Host
at the Yacht House B&B Inn

(Spiritual Insight Guide for the Business Mind)

by Teresa Allen

The Desert's Edge  (novel ends at the Yacht House)

Introduction:

To write about your pursuits is therapeutic, especially if you are philosophical, pragmatic and driven to reach a goal, a Noble Goal, despite a world of chaos and uncertainty.

Everybody is trying to survive, or at least should be.  And by survival I mean everything from meeting our daily needs to elevating the Body, Mind, Heart and Soul -- creating eternity.  Survival is many things.  It is the man faltering on the streets, the soldier marching toward victory, after defeat.  Survival is about making a living.

There are too many variables in human society (intensity of circumstances, age of the soul, inner strength and drive, intelligence v. ignorance), to generalize one "path" directing everybody through Chaos toward Noble Goals that help, rather than harm, the world and the Self.  Some people become teachers, others professionals, politicians or caretakers.  Some people fight for their cause in the trenches, others acquire wealth and support charities.

This book concerns the business arena, specifically, my place of business at the Yacht House Bed and Breakfast Inn where I write books, maintain websites and run the Inn and its stores.  This book describes my visions, strategies, actions and contingencies.  Specifically, I talk about being an Innkeeper Host.  My job is manifold, demanding and stressful.  It doesn't matter what's been done, what's been said, the Innkeeper Host handles every situation with composure.  "I may have to be stern in clarity, but I am composed, no matter how difficult the situation."

A friend of mine once claimed to thrive on stress (after I admitted to hating stress).  I understand her meaning now.  Though I don't necessarily like it, stress gets me going.  Gets me thinking, strategizing, planning, battling opponents and obstacles.  Stress compels me to write, to organize and to understand how best to thrive in the devilishly complex world of business.

In the Business Arena, competition is fierce and most often selfish.  Whether by choice or by fate, I've landed in this arena.  If by choice, I'm here because I have difficulty working for other people, and my ambitions are far reaching.  Sometimes, I can't believe the enormity of task thrust upon me -- responsibility by my own devise!  I put myself in this situation.  No body else did.

At the same time, I believe in fate.  I believe that powerful spiritual forces are having their way with me.  Something led me here to the Yacht House.  Some Great Director has cast me in an arena with many roles.  Why?

In the midst of all my tasks and turmoil, there is a Coming Together for me, here at the Yacht House.  A gathering of my life's efforts and actions.  I feel I've been prepared, specifically, to be the Innkeeper Host at the Yacht House, to run this business, to write and market books that bring forth the workings of my life and mind.  Everything is falling together now, because of vast influences around me.  I have allies standing by and resources at  my disposal -- most notably the Internet and the growing global network.  This is not the same world of ten years ago.

Though the Spirits may have cast me in this drama, I am the director.  It's up to me, only me, to push ahead.  To create the aspirations of my soul through the actions I take.  And I must decide what actions are most suitable for me, in the arena I have chosen to enter.  It is my hope, my behest, that all my choices be honorable and far reaching.
