Synopsis
of Islands One Summer
Islands
One Summer is based on the summer I spent in Europe, after graduating from
college in 1979. In novel form, I tell the story of a young woman, Mona
Klasner, who travels to Celtic and Druid archaeological sites on the British
Isles, then heads to Sweden to be with her boyfriend, a man 20 years her
senior.
Lars Arne Larson
had also traveled to Europe that summer, along with his 4 children and two
cousins. Mona and the Lars Clan stay on a small island in the archipelago
outside Stockholm. The story follows the tumultuous relationship between
Mona and Lars as they explore ancient Viking burial grounds and archaeological
sites.
The story is based
on my travel journal and research into Celtic and Viking mysticism.
